[back-dated post due to problems with pc]. had trip to malacca zoo with my fellow photogs (Kenneth & Winnie). not much to say as it has been so long ago but what i do remember is, my battery failed on me before i got back to petaling jaya and that alot of animals were in a sleepy mood when we arrived. didnt upload all as i have quite a backlog of updating to do. nevertheless, enjoy!! comments most welcomed...

Got one hell of a good potrait, but I am not an animal!!!!!!!! Tue 24-Oct-2006 17:07

well, turned out to be a good day with a whopping 172 shots at the end of the day. couldnt post all so just uploaded some i think did reasonably ok. particularly like the insects shots. had quite a rough time trying to snap them, especially the bees. damn things just cant sit still!!

anyway, shots taken without any editing using photoshop (unless specified with [PS]). pretty happy with current settings...but still need to work out white balance a little. learned quite a deal on f-stops and the depth of field it creates. much to learn, but am progressing a little by little. not so much meddling with settings and alot more pictures were taken.

before i end, here's something to ponder upon. how many wings and legs does a dragonfly have?! the pictures will lie to you...so go do your own research. as usual, please comment as usual as the pictures speaks for itself. cheers!!

PS: winnie, i didnt upload the picture of the day to avoid our friend's embarassment. hehehe.

Whoa.... posted all good shots, Now, 172 shots, good thing PS not required. What else is missing? hmmm....another 120 shots... Its wonderful to see bees up close in my comfort zone, on my sofa, wearing nothing but.....{deleted/edited} Tue 3-Oct-2006 02:39

Weekend Photoshoot

Smiling baby...
Bird modelling...
Bird runway...
View all 21 photos...
had a long and great weekend. made a photobugging trip to lake garden's bird park...but before i could do that, i went over to midvalley to get a telephoto lens. had a drink at coffee bean where this cute baby kept smiling at me. couldnt resist but capture this cute moment. hehehe.

saturday, 23rd sept.
went over to the bird park after the usual downpour. wasnt too happy with most of the shots...but will definately do better. havent gotten the feel to compose my pictures. but what i do know is...Kenneth cant run away from my camera while im on AI Servo mode (used to focus a moving target). hehehe. he definately tried...but failed miserably...

after all that shooting at the bird park, we headed over to sg wang plaza for dinner. no birds were harmed in the preparation of our dinner. headed to klcc soon after as all amateurs are technically required to take shots of the twin towers. turned out pretty good. i also learned that Canon rocks when it comes to night shots using ISO1600. No flash were used in all my night shots and only used natural available lights.

however, the downside to all that great focusing power...my battery ran flat before the night ended. at this point, kenneth couldnt stop gloating about Nikon's battery life. grr!! at least my pictures are more vibrant and detailed.

sunday, 24th sept.
went over to the curve to review the day before's shooting outcome. managed to get some shots before i flew down (literally) to pick my darling which returned safely back to Malaysia from Bangkok.

planning on returning to the bird park as im not satisfied with the previous outing. as usual, comment away.

Hmmm....composition are mostly face level, point and shoot. Need more funky and exciting angles. Need to go low and maybe even crawl on the ground. heck, go into the water, if u must. I like the tiger guy, not the PS effect....but just the photographer dude. He looks good in B&W and in color. My two cents...cheers.

First official entry...

today's mum's birthday..."HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM!!". i have officially devirginized my baby@canon 400D by taking it for an outing for the very first time. still have much to learn about lighting. had to do a fair bit of editing the contrast. still trying to figure out why the colour on the screen seems great but upon transfer to pc, all went a shade darker. weirdness...

by the way, i think i shall begin using my sister as a start up model for my projects. she seems to have some decent features which i find rather attractive. all photos were taken with the 18-55mm kit lens by canon. definately getting a telephoto lens tomorrow. feel very limited with the kit lens. anyhow, enjoy and dont hold back on the comments. be honest though... (this means you...Yu Jin )

feel free to visit me hah tq Thu 21-Sep-2006 19:09
